Sixteen marks a year of many new and exciting things in a young woman's life. Her driver's license, her first car, her first prom, sometimes a first job. At sixteen the pigtails become a "French twist", bobby socks give way to silk stockings and the stuffed animals now have to share space with "Matt Damon." She is growing up, much like a butterfly, shedding her old cocoon and sprouting new wings. Sweet 16 is an annual tribute honoring the upcoming young women in the Northeast Georgia area. All area young women who reach the age of sixteen during the 2006 calendar year are eligible to register. Sweet 16 is not a beauty or talent contest, nor is it based on race or family income. It is an effort to lift up the new emerging citizens that will become the leaders of tomorrow. Sweet 16 aims to celebrate the mark of age as well as the endeavors and accomplishments of our area's young ladies.
